Havre resident Zack Lee Ambler, who escaped from a pre-release center in Billings less than two weeks ago, has been caught.
Ambler was arrested by tribal police on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation on Wednesday. He was transported to the Hill County Detention Center at about 9:30 p.m.
He is being held on an escape charge from the Department of Corrections. He’s also charged with obstruction, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
From the information available to him, Sheriff Jamie Ross said detention center officers found marijuana on Ambler when they were booking him.
Ambler walked away from the Alpha House Men’s Pre-release Center at 8:20 a.m. on July 20.
He is no stranger to run-ins with the law.
He was convicted of criminal possession of a dangerous drug in Lake County in 2018.
In 2017, Ambler was sentenced three times by former 12th Judicial District Judge Daniel Boucher, once for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, another time for burglary, and in another instance for theft.
