Havre’s July Fourth celebration in Pepin Park has been canceled.
The popular celebration is the latest local event to be postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“After much deliberation and great sadness, the 4th of July Festival Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 festival in Pepin Park,” the statement said. “We ultimately want to side with caution and safety. This, coupled with the limited preparation time, uncertain product availability and regulations concerning large crowds, has led to our decision.”
The celebration has become a local summer staple. For years, it’s been put on by local volunteers who worked hard to bring food, music, and other fun festivities to Havreites and visitors at no cost.
